2010 Hurricane Season Forecasted to Be Active - Hurricane season officially begins June 1. The White House has proclaimed May 23 –May 30 as “Hurricane Preparedness Week” in an effort to warn residents of hurricane prone areas to get prepared. Weather officials throughout the country generally agree that a lull in the El Nino conditions which will typically dissipate by mid-summer, will allow the tropical Atlantic sea surface temperatures to rise and persist producing an abundance of fuel and energy for hurricane formation and persistence in the Atlantic. Hearts With Hands™ Executive Director, Bill Bradley stated, “We want to warn our residents that although we are not in a coastal area, we can still be diversely affected by hurricanes as we witnessed in 2004 with Hurricane Ivan.
