Christmas from the Heart 2006 - Asheville, NC - Hearts With Hands, Inc. held its annual "Christmas from the Heart" program at Trinity Baptist Church in West Asheville recently. Over 250 children and their families met at the church's fellowship hall and enjoyed an evening of music by Biltmore Baptist Church's Praise and Worship Choir. The children also enjoyed a video entitled, "The Very First Noel" featuring narration by Andy Griffith . In addition, the guests were treated to lots and lots of pizza and other Christmas confections. Pastor Bobby Smith of Zion Hill Baptist Church read from the Bible and explained why christmas is so important.

Bill Bradley, Executive Director of Hearts With Hands, Inc. commented, "Unfortunately, we are seeing more and more families that are unemployed or having to work two jobs to survive. We also noticed a large turnout of grandparents who are helping to manage the children while the parents are working."

Hearts With Hands, Inc. has not only helped children with Christmas locally, but with the victims of the deadly tornado that devastated the small eastern North Carolina town of Riegelwood earlier in November. The organization has also helped children with Christmas in Waveland, Bay Saint Louis, and Pass Christian, Mississippi. These Gulf Coast families are victims of Hurricane Katrina. The organization also plans to assist families of deployed military personnel in Fort Bragg in early January.
